On Monday evening, The Exchange was alerted to a post in the dedicated Leeds subreddit showing what appeared to be effigies in black plastic bags hanging from trees in Hanover Square park, in Leeds. “To me, that’s crazy”, said cb0495, while Medivera had a bigger worry: “Erm… Has anyone checked what’s inside?”
Some suspected these related to Halloween, but many felt they went too far. Additional-Wrap9814 said on Reddit: “I find this stuff hideous”, adding: “a bit of pantomime stuff is fine. But I get the feeling a lot of these people have never had anything grim happen to them or their [immediate] family. It rather changes your tolerance for this stuff.” Adelaide116 said: “I think, given how many people take their own lives, some of the Halloween stuff is TOO graphic for day to day consumption and it’s not like you choose to see it – it’s just there, in your face.”
The Exchange has been able to confirm that these were indeed left after a “Trick or Treat Trail” event took place at the park on Saturday.
